Un atelier d’art bilingue proposé par des étudiants de l’UQAT pour la communauté anglophone de Rouyn-Noranda.
Le Musée d’art de Rouyn-Noranda s’associe avec cinq étudiants de l’Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) pour organiser un atelier artistique bilingue destiné à la communauté anglophone de la ville. Cette initiative vise à favoriser la découverte et le partage à travers une expérience collective et créative. Au-delà de sa mission artistique et culturelle, le musée joue un rôle essentiel en tant que lieu de rencontre et d’échange pour toutes les communautés locales. Conscient que la barrière linguistique peut limiter l’accès à l’offre culturelle et freiner l’intégration, il était essentiel de proposer une initiative spécifique pour la communauté anglophone, souvent moins représentée dans les activités culturelles de la ville.
Ce projet, porté par cinq étudiants, Marie Campion, Lise Gerber, Tess Compère, Côme Richard et Antoine Leclère, en collaboration avec l’association Neighbours, œuvrant au rapprochement des communautés anglophones et francophones en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, marque ainsi une première étape vers une relation plus étroite entre la communauté anglophone et le Musée d’art de Rouyn-Noranda, avec l’ambition d’inscrire ce lien dans la durée.
« Engager les familles anglophones nous semble être un pari solide pour le développement de la communauté et le partage d’informations en son sein, renforçant ainsi leur implication dans la vie culturelle locale. En facilitant leur accès aux événements, nous espérons, ainsi, leur donner envie de participer plus régulièrement et de s’approprier les espaces culturels de la ville. D’autre part, cet atelier est une opportunité simple et engageante d’impliquer directement les enfants anglophones dans une expérience artistique enrichissante. En leur offrant une première découverte des expositions du musée, notamment de ses collections locales et autochtones, suivie d’un atelier de création collaboratif, nous souhaitons stimuler l’expression de leurs émotions, créativités et imagination tout en sensibilisant au rôle de l’art dans la compréhension de soi, des autres et du monde qui nous entoure. » Marie Campion, étudiante impliquée dans ce projet.

The Musée d’art de Rouyn-Noranda is partnering with five students from the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) to organize a bilingual artistic workshop aimed at the anglophone community of the city. This initiative aims to foster discovery and sharing through a collective and creative experience. Beyond its artistic and cultural mission, the museum plays a vital role as a meeting and exchange place for all local communities. Aware that the language barrier can limit access to cultural offerings and hinder integration, it was essential to propose a specific initiative for the anglophone community, which is often less represented in the city’s cultural activities.
This project, led by five students, Marie Campion, Lise Gerber, Tess Compère, Côme Richard, and Antoine Leclère, in collaboration with the association Neighbours, which works to bring anglophone and francophone communities together in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, thus marks a first step toward a closer relationship between the anglophone community and the Musée d’art de Rouyn-Noranda, with the ambition of establishing this link over time.
“Engaging anglophone families is something we truly think is a reliable approach for the development of the community and the sharing of information within it, thus strengthening their involvement in the local cultural life. By facilitating their access to events, we hope to inspire them to participate more regularly and take ownership of the city’s cultural spaces. Furthermore, this workshop is a simple and engaging opportunity to directly involve anglophone children in a rewarding artistic experience. By offering them a first discovery of the museum’s exhibitions, particularly its local and Indigenous collections, followed by a collaborative creation workshop, we aim to stimulate the expression of their emotions, creativity, and imagination while raising awareness of the role of art in understanding oneself, others, and the world around us.” Marie Campion, a student involved in this project.
